Feel free to ignore this but I remember you mentioning a while back about how people use Optimus as like an accessory for Megop instead of an actual character. And I’m new to the fandom and I’ve noticed that something they rly like to do is have him apologise to megatron and beg for forgiveness for stuff and I’m like what? Megatron? Why should Op apologise to him megatron has hurt him so much for so long and the fandom never acknowledges it. It’s always copy pasted IDW backstory stuff most of the time on continuities where that isn’t canon or the decepticons were just bad guys with no positive intentions so it doesn’t even make sense. Plus in the IDW continuity megatron was so much worse Optimus should not be apologising for anything. And it just feels like they’re using Op to validate megatron and for like angst and comfort and stuff but it just seems so disingenuous to the characters 😭 like Op is not the one who should be apologising to and gaining back the trust of megatron. It feels like this fandom ignores the decepticons crimes, especially against the autobots, so much to the point where it’s ridiculous and just gets uncomfortable. They act like the decepticons were right about everything, the autobots were the ones who were actually evil and they have to beg for forgiveness for just… existing? And being hurt by the decepticons? And trying to stop them from committing genocide? It gets to the point where it’s almost abuse apologia and making it seem like op deserved it or that megatron doesn’t have to apologise. I love megatron and the deceptions but I know they’re bad people who have a lot to answer for. Sorry about the long ask 😅

Yeah literally all of this is 10000% how I've felt for most of my time being in this fandom idek what to say that wouldn't be just repeating what you say 😂 I just think it's funny esp when it happens in the MegOP fandom bc, my dudes if you ship them together doesn't that imply you like Megatron AND Optimus? Why are you gonna brag about shipping the #1 toxic yaoi couple of two old war general bastards but then completely defang the dynamic by going "akshully Megatron is good and right and worthy and OP should kiss his ass just for existing" like??? So do you ship MOP as enemy lovers who are each other's only equal and understand each other like no other or do you just like Megatron and want him to have a trophy husband who's an iconic character (Optimus)

Esp since you don't even have to look at Megatron's behavior towards OP/Autobots to find shit to criticize, the way he ruled the Decepticons was nightmarishly authoritarian and these are the people who he supposedly started the revolution on behalf of.

But no it's like I said in a previously answered ask on a similar topic, a lot of ppl in this fandom are just contrarians who dive into unironic Decepticon apologism with a black-and-white "they're right, Bots are wrong" attitude because they think it's revolutionary or something alksdljfkdsljk

It's a shame bc I kind of hoped TF One coming out would make this problem less bad (both the Decepticon apologism and the needless shitting on OP) but that really is too much to ask from people huh
